Faith & Time: Making the Most of Every Moment
As we make our way out of winter, the days grow longer and the sun lingers a little later in the evening, giving us more opportunities to reflect on how we use our time. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” This verse encourages us to be intentional with our days, recognizing that each season brings new opportunities to grow, connect, and serve.
Time is a valuable resource, and faith advises us to use it wisely. Instead of letting our days slip by in busyness or distraction, we can choose to focus on what truly matters—our relationships, our personal growth, and the ways we contribute to our communities. By seeking God’s guidance, we can align our time with His purpose for our lives.
Using Extra Daylight with Purpose
Here are a few of our favorite ways to make the most of the additional daylight afforded by spring and summer:
Personal Reflection and Prayer
Setting aside time for quiet reflection, prayer, or journaling can help bring a restorative sense of clarity and peace. In the morning, take a few moments to pause and focus on what matters most. Write down some faith-driven goals and personal growth aims. It can really set a positive tone for the day.
Enjoy Time Outdoors
Spending time in nature—whether it’s taking a walk, gardening, or simply sitting outside—can be a great way to relax and appreciate the world around us. The beauty of spring often provides a sense of renewal and perspective, reminding us of God’s presence in all things. To enrich your experience, read a few chapters out of Psalms or other nature-related Bible verses. Another great way to spend time outside is in stewardship of God’s creation: develop a community garden, clean up litter in your neighborhood, or support a conservation effort in your area.
Acts of Service
With more hours of daylight, there are more opportunities to help others. Assisting a neighbor with a house or gardening task, or volunteering at a local senior center, are great ways of using time to support and uplift those around us and reflect God’s call to love and serve one another.
