Everything You Need to Know About Blue Skies Season 2!

Bigger mysteries. Deeper relationships. One unforgettable partnership.

The skies over Crystal Ridge National Park are anything but quiet! Season 2 of Blue Skies is now streaming on UP Faith & Family, bringing Jodi Larsen, Blue and the rest of the team back for a new season of mysteries, adventure and unexpected twists. And if you haven’t started watching yet, now is a great time to return. This new season builds on the mystery, outdoor adventure and character-driven storytelling fans love, while adding a larger serialized threat involving a criminal network, hidden identities and weapons trafficking.

Here’s a spoiler-free look at what’s waiting for you in Season 2:

Bigger Mysteries. Higher Stakes.

Season 2 kicks off with the death of a cyclist during a grueling mountain bike race, followed by a truck hijacking that leaves a young girl missing. From there, the team encounters a case with ties to a notorious serial killer, a Bigfoot-hunting frenzy that collides with a missing-child search, stolen sacred artifacts, and a luxury wellness retreat where buried secrets come to light.

While those weekly mysteries may appear separate, clues to something larger begin to emerge. A dangerous criminal operation is putting Crystal Ridge National Park and the people who protect it at risk, raising the stakes for everyone, and case solved only uncovers another piece of the puzzle.

Scarlet Hunter as Jodi in Blue Skies Season 2

Blue Is Still the Heart of the Show

Fans who watched Season 1 know there’s much more to Blue’s story: before finding his way to Jodi, Blue was known as Maverick, a military service dog. After the death of his previous handler, he eventually found a new home and purpose with Jodi, making their evolving partnership a story of healing and second chances for both of them.

This season, Blue is still the heart of the investigative team in Crystal Ridge National Park, providing companionship and comfort as Jodi continues to move forward after the loss of her mother, but solving the park’s mysteries is very much a team effort. Nora Esposito (played by Veronica Long), Alex Meeks (David Lennon), and Tyson Bernard (Darius Willis from PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie) are back, each bringing their own skills to each case. Nora & Meeks work alongside Jodi in the field, interviewing witnesses, examining evidence and pursuing leads, while Tyson provides technical support that helps the team make sense of surveillance footage, GPS data, and other digital clues.

Those talents are put to the test from the very first episode. During the deadly mountain bike competition, Nora notices physical evidence that suggests the victim’s crash wasn’t what it appeared to be, Tyson uses race cameras and GPS tracking to reconstruct the timeline, and Meeks recognizes a crucial connection that helps the team close in on the truth. Later in the season, Nora spots inconsistencies in a case apparently connected to a notorious serial killer, while another investigation sends Meeks and Nora after stolen cargo as Jodi and Blue race to find a missing girl.

And then, of course, there’s Blue. Whether he’s tracking a suspect through the wilderness, searching for a missing person, picking up on a clue everyone else has overlooked or springing into action when someone is in danger, Blue’s instincts continue to prove invaluable. From pursuing suspects through Crystal Ridge to searching for people lost in the park, Blue continues to show that sometimes the most important member of an investigative team is the one following his nose!

Familiar Faces, New Connections

The new season isn’t just expanding the mysteries of Crystal Ridge National Park. It’s opening new chapters in the lives of the characters fans have come to know.

There’s a change in leadership with Clive Fujihara, the park’s new superintendent. As the season’s investigations become more complicated, Clive joins the team in handling the challenges facing the park, including coordinating search-and-rescue resources when multiple emergencies stretch the team thin. His leadership style pairs humor with perspective, including a reminder to Jodi Larsen that even dedicated investigators need to step back, rest and begin again with fresh eyes.

Clive Fujihara is played by Hiro Kanagawa, whose credits include Star Trek: Discovery, The Last of Us and Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Someone From Jodi’s Past Returns

The most intriguing new arrival is someone who isn’t exactly new Jodi at all: Ernie Estevez (played by William Wilder) comes to Crystal Ridge National Park carrying a shared military history with Jodi. His arrival places Jodi between loyalty, love and duty and asking how well we truly know the people closest to us. His timing happens to also be particularly interesting as he unexpectedly reappears just as Ryan (Return to Sender’s Markian Tarasiuk) and Jodi seem to be hitting their stride.

More than a potential romantic rival, Ernie possesses military training that quickly proves invaluable, joining Jodi, Ryan, and Blue in the search for a missing boy. When the mission takes a dangerous turn, Ernie’s skills help save both the child and Ryan, giving them more reason to wrestle with what they believe about him. This begs the question, is Ernie someone Jodi can trust?

What About Jodi and Ryan?

Of course, there’s another question fans have been waiting to see unfold: What’s next for Jodi and Ryan? In a word, it’s complicated. With Ryan serving as interim sheriff, new professional pressures are placed on his work with Jodi. Their overlapping jurisdictions cause tension from the very first investigation of the season.

Then there’s Ernie, who knew Jodi during a very different chapter of her life, and his arrival comes at just the wrong moment for Ryan, who had finally mustered the courage to tell Jodi his feelings. Then, when Ryan begins following evidence connected to the Steel Reapers biker gang and military-grade weapons, his investigation brings him uncomfortably close to Jodi’s old friend. As the investigation develops, Ryan also himself learning things he may not be ready to share with Jodi. The more he learns, the more difficult his position becomes. What do you do when protecting someone you care about may require keeping something from them? And what happens to a relationship when trust itself becomes part of the mystery?

As for whether Jodi and Ryan’s slow-burning friendship could finally become something more, you’ll just have to keep watching!

There’s Still Time to Get in on the Mystery!

Whether you’ve been following Jodi Larsen and Blue from the beginning or you’re just discovering Blue Skies, Season 2 offers plenty of reasons to join the team! The mysteries are bigger. Relationships are getting more complicated. Old connections are resurfacing. With each new case, Jodi, Blue and the team uncover another piece of a larger mystery threatening Crystal Ridge National Park. Through it all, the series remains grounded in what made Blue Skies special in the first place: the bond between Jodi and Blue, a community worth protecting, and hopeful storytelling centered on courage, compassion and loyalty.
